Thank you for visiting www.spiritofsacrifice.com. This new website is still under construction to provide you with up to date information regarding the Alamo Reimagine Plan and the Relocation of the Cenotaph. Please check back as we add more content and files. Thank you.
IMPORTANT ACTION ITEM! Please write to the Texas Historical Commission before September 22, 2020 to tell them you do NOT support Relocation of the Cenotaph! Read PUSH CARDS below...
THANK YOU LT. GOVERNOR DAN PATRICK FOR YOUR SUPPORT! KEEP THE CENOTAPH WHERE IT STANDS!
I do not represent the DRT; but have been a member for more than 25 years. My ancestor fought and died at the Alamo; and my ancestor cousin, Caroline Zumwalt helped create the COME AND TAKE IT flag during the battle of Gonzales. Many Daughters are opposed to the Relocation of the Cenotaph. There are many aspects of the Alamo Plan I like; but the Cenotaph's location was carefully chosen by Pompeo Coppini with approval of the City of San Antonio back in 1937. THE CENOTAPH NEEDS TO STAY IN ITS CHOSEN HISTORIC AND SACRED LOCATION. Our own Daughters Adina de Zevala and Clara Driscoll disagreed on the Treatment of the Alamo that forever changed the DRT. Now I, and many other Daughters are taking an opposing position to the Alamo Plan. I will always protect TEXAS HISTORY first. To learn more, please read my research paper that I presented to the Texas Historical Commission back in January.
Therefore, as a Texas State Antiquities Landmark, the Cenotaph must stay in its current location in accordance with the Statute above.
RESEARCH PAPER ON WHY NOT TO RELOCATE THE CENOTAPH PRESENTED
Download PDFWe need all Texans to please write the Texas Historical Commission. This is the last step to ensure the Cenotaph stays in its current location where Pompeo Coppini designed it to be! The Cenotaph is the one and only gravestone for our Alamo Heroes. The Cenotaph needs restoration, but it can be done IN PLACE!...where our Alamo HEROES shed their blood for our freedom.
Please find this sample letter which you may customize to send to the Texas Historical Commission! We need to make sure they hear from Texans to NOT MOVE THE CENOTAPH!
THANK YOU for your interest. We continue to fight to make sure the Alamo Cenotaph, also known as the Spirit of Sacrifice, is NOT relocated. The George P. Bush Alamo Reimagine Plan sadly calls for the Cenotaph to be moved off the Alamo Battlefield footprint, and also to be turned 180 degrees.
